Stupid Commentators Exhaust Me

someone posted this comment on an earlier entry:

"kids exhaust me...they did seem impressed you had an iPhone...young consumers of tomorrow."

The comment bugs me for a few obvious reasons.

All kids are not the same, some are exhausting, and some are not. Just like real people. Oh, wait a second, they are real people. And from there the commentator moves on to another dismissive and reductive comment. Duh, they're the young consumers of tomorrow, just like you are an old consumer of today. Get over it. You want to critique consumerism, knock yourself out, but don't associate it with these guys, as if they have any hand in the barrage of advertising they're constantly subjected to. And, finally, it's annoying that the person talks as if the kids in the jury have nothing to do with the blog, are not reading it and not posting on it. It's like speaking about someone in the 3rd person, while they're sitting in the room with you: it's rude.

"They look better than some of the new ones!!! Job well done. It sure is nice to see them being recycled rather than throwing them away…Maybe, that is why I was hanging on to them!!! Also, I am sure the recipients will adore them."

wondering about artist residencies in elementary schools

I wonder what would evolve if an artist were to be resident in an elementary school for an entire year. If they were required to attend staff meetings and participate in the administrative ecology of the school. If they were asked to spend a decent amount of time observing and getting to know the school - a month, say - and then they worked with the teachers and the students to evolve programs, or supplement and fortify things happening in the school. What if they were required to live in the neighborhood? What if they were always trying to get invited over for dinner? Would a figure who shuttles between the public officialdom of the school and the private world of the family be valuable, useful, fun, interesting, worth the effort? Anyone know of people who have done that?

trophy making

Ingredients:
50 trophies donated by superstar Nash Damji from Superstar Trophies, THANKS NASH!!!
2 bags of bulk baking chocolate
8 packages of paraffin canning wax
Double-boiler
Lots of craft supplies

(how annoying, blogger posts the first pics you post last, so imagine viewing these photos from the bottom up. the pic of the table covered with them should be the last, mind-blowing thing you see.)

Skydive
hey everyone!
this is donna.kabonna.anteena!
well, on Saturday Darren, Donna, Daniela, Jeetpal, JC, Sukleen, stephanie, Alexa, Ron, and I went to a show called Skydive.
It kinda made me bored during the show, and i almost almost fell asleep! good thing i didnt!
the show was held at Arts Club Granville Island Stage.
all of us were sitting in row M 16.
the show was about 2 brothers skydiving....and one of them tries to face his fears. The one who tries to facs his fears always has dreams. The other brother named Morgan (in the show) is the oldest and he helps his brother overcome his fears...
After the show all of us voted and rated the show. it was between 5-0
i mostly rated between 3-0.....since i didnt really like it........

anyways.........
