meeting and greeting

I make it a point of meeting all the parents, thinking that they would like to have a little eye contact with the guy who is going to be taking their kids on a long van ride. But it does feel ridiculous. It feels so formal. I guess that's what it is. But it's worth laughing at, as Valerie proved when I stepped up to meet her mom.
